Freedom

FREEDOM

Freedom.

It’s what Independence Day celebrations in America are all about each year on the 4th of July.

Sadly however, when it comes to the Christian life, many believers live below the level of freedom that Christ promised should be theirs in Him.

Is that true of you?

Is your life as a follower of Jesus more of a burden and a chore?

Do you find yourself troubled by guilt or battling fear, struggling with depression or dealing with a low self-esteem?

You might even say to yourself, “Freedom? Maybe for someone else. But it seems like it’s not for me.”

I’m here to tell you today it is for you!

And as you better understand the love of God you’ll experience freedom I’m convinced, my dear friends.

THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF GOD

Among the many things to remember about the love of God that’ll help you live free is that it’s unconditional.

Parents can sometimes mistakenly train their kids to be performers.

Do you remember report card time when you were growing up?

I sure do.

Because I was so afraid of how my mom and dad would respond if I were to ever bring home a low grade.

And because of this, I worked hard to always score high – to always please them, but it wasn’t for the joy of learning.

Instead, it was due to the fear that affection would be withheld from me if I didn’t perform up to par.

Did you know that there are some believers that can see God in much the same way that I saw my parents when I was young?

These people are trapped by the thinking that if they don’t do all the right things then the Lord will somehow decide to stop loving them.

That’s simply not true.

Because God’s love for a person is unconditional.

It’s both undeserved and without cause.

Therefore, it doesn’t hinge upon what one does or doesn’t do.

Are you hearing me somebody who needs to?

Of course, there’s much more to be said about the unconditional love of God.

But for now just release yourself from “performing” into the loving hands of a heavenly Father who loves and accepts you just the way you are!
