A Word from the Lord for 2015

Full Armor of GodEphesians 6:13-18 (NASB)

13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with TRUTH,

Our inward parts must permeate with God’s Word. It must flow through our veins.

14b and having put on the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,

The breastplate protects our vital organ: the heart. Righteousness has nothing to do with works (what we do or don’t do). Christ is the end of the law for everyone who believes.

15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the GOSPEL OF PEACE;

On our right foot we have peace with God. (Romans 5:1) And on our left, we have the peace of God. (Philippians 4:6-7)

16 in addition to all, taking up the SHIELD OF FAITH with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

For some of you in 2014, doubt, discouragement, depression, despair has had you. Not anymore. Get behind the faith shield in Jesus’ name!

17 And take the HELMET OF SALVATION,

The Roman soldier’s helmet was practically impenetrable. And our assurance of salvation and the resulting confidence it brings makes us invincible.

17b and [take] the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the word of God.

A “machira” sword was double-edged and used offensively. Our spiritual sword (the Bible) exposes wrong thinking and wrong behavior.

Finally, there’s all prayer at all times.

18 With ALL PRAYER and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.

In 2015 we need to be clad, clothed, covered with the full armor of God.

We need to be dressed for battle.
