On Apple Trees and the Importance of the Son

Christ the True Vine“‘I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit.'” (John 15:5ab)

VISIT TO AN APPLE ORCHARD

I had the opportunity to visit a local apple ranch in our area. It was a wonderful time where I found myself peering in at the baker making pies, watching the kids play in the hay bale maze and later, riding with them on the hay ride.

But most of all, I probably enjoyed the tour of the apple orchard the best.

4 THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT APPLES

I learned a lot of things about apples that I didn’t know.

Among the things I learned was how the roots of the trees go down twice as far as what you see of the tree above ground.

Secondly, it takes 30 gallons of water per tree daily to grow a healthy tree.

Third, every season is needed. There are benefits to even the cold of winter to the health of the trees. (They need to get their sleep like us!)

And lastly, the one thing I learned that was the most important of all – the trees cannot grow without the sun. “Duh,” you might think.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SON

And I can’t help but wonder in the spiritual realm that some believers think they’ll do just fine apart for the S-o-n — Son (of God)!

And then they wonder why they don’t have peace, why they don’t have joy, why they don’t have victory, etc.

We simply cannot remain healthy without the Son (just like apple trees!)

And so it’s vital that we multiply the times we’re in prayer and in the Word and in church and in fellowship with one another. These are the places where the Son shines the most. (Matthew 18:20)
