The Woman Who Kept a Light Burning in Her Window

Candle Flame“Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass.” (Joshua 21:45)

God keeps His word. What the Lord says He’ll do, He does it!

He’s like the young woman whose sailor lover was going away to sea. She told him she would keep a light burning in her window every night until he returned.

And she would do it.

Not one day.

Not one week.

Not one month.

Not one year.

But she would keep that light burning for fifty years!

The sailor’s vessel was never heard from again.

But the woman’s commitment to her lover remained the same.

She did not allow the light to go out up until the very day she died.

It’s a picture of God’s unfailing love for us.

And as it has to do with His promises, there’s an ever burning “light in the window.” In the Lord’s time we will indeed see everything He’s promised us come to pass as long as we keep trusting and obeying Him.

And probably the biggest promise of all from God is that we’ll some day see Him face to face.

John puts it, “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that, when He (Jesus) appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is.” (1 John 3:2)

It’s gonna happen. God has promised it. We will all appear before His throne one day in glory.

The time is near. My bags are packed and I got my ticket in hand (Christ in my heart!). How ’bout you?

Keep trusting God.

His word never fails!
