10 Mistakes People Make with Christmas (plus 1 bonus)

Angel Gabriel's Annunciation to MaryLightning fast read meant to make you think…

10 Mistakes People Make with Christmas (plus 1 bonus):

1. Lose the reason for the season. (Luke 2:1-7; John 3:16)
2. Have a “hum bug” spirit for whatever reason (watch “A Christmas Carol” on YouTube” to get the antidote).
3. Think they have to attend every party, community event, worship service, family gathering (it’s okay to say, “No”).
4. Run up the credit card buying stuff they cannot afford (smacks them in the face in January).
5. Forget to reach out to someone in need (be a blessing to another person less fortunate than you). (Matthew 25:40)
6. Get stuck up over things that aren’t important (Santa Claus, Rudolph, having a Christmas tree, etc).
7. Overlook that this might be their very last chance at enjoying Christmas (no one is guaranteed next year so rejoice!). (Luke 2:13-14)
8. Buy things for relatives and others to give the impression of affluence (watch your motives). (1 John 2:15-16)
9. Forget that “simple” (simple decorations, simple presents, simple outreaches for churches) can oftentimes be so much better than grand productions (they’re less stressful, too, and more personal).
10. Overlook that it’s the best time of year to come back to the Lord those of you that used to love and serve Him long ago, but think He would never take you back (His arms are always open wide). (2 Peter 3:9)

BONUS Refuse/are afraid to say, “Merry Christmas,” sing Christmas carols or mention the name, “Jesus,” since it may offend (but that’s what Christmas is all about).
