10 Mistakes People Make with Preacher’s Kids (plus 1 bonus):

1. Expect them to become preachers themselves (go into the ministry) when they grow up.
2. Don’t realize the greater temptation on them to turn from God.
3. Place (too) high expectations on them that no human being could live up to.
4. Dominate their parents’ time so much that they (the kids) are deprived of them (let your Pastor and his wife have room to be a Dad and Mom, too).
5. Shower them with gifts (to atone/make amends for not tithing or to gain an advantage over/manipulate the Pastor?).
6. Forget their harsh words and mistreatment of the Pastor (and/or his wife) affects them, too.
7. Overlook that they are on the front lines of the battle (the devil goes after the kids to take out the Pastor, minimize his strength/effectiveness and ultimately, diminish the church).
8. Don’t allow them to have (gain) their own identity (they are so much more than just so-and-so’s “Popular Preacher’s” kids).
9. Give them a “pass” because of who they are (don’t do it; treat them the same as any other child).
10. (For preachers) Never stop ministry long enough just to be a family (have fun once in a while!).

BONUS (For preachers) Are too harsh (overbearing) with them because they’re concerned about their own “reputation” (the kids will come to hate Jesus over it).
