10 Mistakes People Make with Popes (plus 1 bonus)

Christ Handing the Keys to Saint PeterLightning fast read meant to make you think…

10 Mistakes People Make with Popes (plus 1 bonus):

1. Think they are infallible/without error (they are not). (Isaiah 64:6)
2. Think what they say is infallible/without error (it is not ~ neither is what Protestant ministry leaders say).
3. Approve of Popes praying to Mary or any other “saint” (this is idolatry and condemned in the Scriptures). (John 2:5)
4. Are afraid to speak out against Popes when warranted. (2 Peter 2:1)
5. Overlook their good qualities (many times pro-life, pro-family).
6. Think they are direct successors to the “first Pope,” the Apostle Peter (the next “Pope” after Peter didn’t come until 200+ years later).
7. Think they are direct successors to the first Pope, the Apostle Peter since he was the rock on which the church was to be built upon (Jesus did not mean Peter was the rock on which the church was to be built upon; the rock that the church was to be built upon was the “confession of faith” that Peter made and/or Jesus Christ is the very rock Himself). (Matthew 16:15-19)
8. Rationalize their sins (there have been some very bad Popes).
9. Hold what Popes say at the same authority level as the Scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
10. Rationalize their embrace of wrong doctrine because they are “good” morally (and some are, but it’s not enough to make it into heaven). (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23; 10:9)

BONUS Worship them / give them the place of God / place them on a level with Jesus Christ (this is idolatry, too). (Philippians 2:9-11)
