Comments

  1. This one I scored 5. Never heard of St. Peter dictating the Gospel to St. Mark.

  2. To Vicky: Actually, that’s just a deduction, but a very plausible one. By the way, “St.” Peter and “St.” Mark are saints just like you, if you’re a Christian. No more, no less. If you insist on writing St. Peter, you could also call yourself St. Vicky. 😉

    God bless!

  3. I disagree–most scholars don’t believe Paul wrote Hebrews, which means there would be 9 authors, one anonymous.
Thanks for putting together this quiz!

  4. I’m almost certain that Hebrews was written by Peter.

My reasoning? None whatsoever, I just like saying provocative things.

The only one I got wrong was the oldest epistle.

    Good quiz

  5. I scored 5/7

And, typically, I got 4 and 5 wrong. I had never heard of any of the accounts of the Gospel being dictated, and could only give a guess as to which of the epistles was oldest. Though, if I had been thinking, I suppose I could have assumed James (if it is the same James who was the first apostle to be killed, then it would make sense, right?)

@Heather: it would still be considered eight authors, because only eight are confirmed, and the ninth might be the author of one of the other books for all we know. I personally think that, if it wasn’t Paul who wrote it, it was most likely Peter, which would leave it still at eight authors. That said, it might be a good idea for the quiz to be reworded “How many known authors” or something.

    Neat little quiz, thanks!
